I am Malala

“I am Malala” is the incredible story of Pakistani student Malala Yousafzai. At the age of 11, she started writing a blog for the BBC, speaking out against Taliban control in her native Pakistan and fighting for her right to an education, which the regime had banned. One day in October 2012, when Malala was 15 years old, she was getting onto her school bus when a Taliban gunman shot her in the head. She survived the attack and was taken to an English hospital to recover. She is now a global symbol of courage and in 2014 she became the youngest ever winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. Malala continues to fight for education through a non-profit organization, The Malala Fund, supporting education projects for girls around the world. Her initiatives have gained international support from the United Nations who say “Extremists have shown what frightens them most: a girl with a book”.
